My 3 Part Signature Style Formula for Maternity Style (+ How to Find Yours)

    I first created this 3 Part Signature Style concept when I was pregnant with my son and didn’t have a whole lot of money to spend on an entire new maternity wardrobe (Read here: How to Build a Maternity Wardrobe On A Budget ). I invested in a few great basics and then learned how to mix and match those pieces within my closet to create endless outfit options that kept me feeling energized and inspired to get dressed everyday without spending tons of time getting ready.

    The 3 Part Signature Style Formula is all about creating a base outfit from which you can mix and match different colors, textures, and patterns to create multiple different versions of the same “style formula.” This concept works just as well for non maternity style as it does for maternity, but today I want to take you through one of my 3 Part Signature Style Formulas for pregnancy to show you what it is + how it works...   

3 Part Signature Style Formula for Maternity Style 

You can create multiple different outfits from any one style formula, but each outfit will have three things in common that make up it’s 3 Part Style Formula...

Part 1: Black Leggings

This is the bottom piece or the foundation of the outfit, which is something that stays consistent among all outfits created from this style formula.

Part 2: Fitted Maternity Tee

This is the top piece and will vary in color, pattern, and length (in this case long and short sleeve versions).

Part 3: Open Front + Longer Length Layering Piece

This is the add-on piece, which creates visual interest and completes the base of the outfit. In this example, it varies quite a bit from button front blouses to lightweight sweaters, but always remains consistent in that it is open front + longer length.

Style Formula: black leggings + fitted tee + open front long layering piece

While I used the same style formula (leggings + basic tee + open front long layering piece), each outfit still feels unique and refreshed. Because while the black leggings stay the same, the colors, textures, and patterns of the other two pieces (the tee + layering piece) vary from outfit to outfit making each outfit feel unique and refreshed without having to spend hours recreating multiple different outfits every day... which means there’s more time for a mid-afternoon nap or even an early morning workout session!
