Healthy Living Swaps: Chips + Salsa

Healthy Living Swaps: Chips + Salsa

If you’ve read my bio (if not, you can check it out here), then you know I’ve spent the past 7+ years using food & lifestyle changes to fight chronic illness. Throughout this journey, it’s become a passion of mine to find little ways to live healthier without sacrificing all the things I’ve come to love.

From yummy foods to fav makeup finds, ‘Healthy Living Swaps’ is where I’m going to share my favorite ways to live healthier + enjoy doing it! First up, Chips + Salsa!

When I first switch from processed foods to a paleo lifestyle (circa 2012), one of the first things I missed was a classic tortilla chip. I had been eating traditional gluten-free (wheat, barley, rye, and oats) for a couple years, so I was used to enjoying corn or rice tortilla chips, but going completely grain-free suddenly meant no more tortilla chips.

No way! The thought was terrifying (although not as terrifying as staying sick forever). I’m a self-professed chips + salsa snob after all, and it’s by far my favorite snack. What can I say? I love me some Mexican food!

But I’ve never been one to give up in the face of challenge (super competitive!), so I tried recipe after recipe of almond flour this, coconut flour that, and even succumbed to using potato chips as my dipping vessel of choice. It wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t a tortilla chip.

Fast forward years later... & BAM! I tried my first Siete Chip... life.changing.moment. I know, I know, I sound totally over dramatic but I’m not apologizing for it. I’m a girl who loves her food and thought authentic chips + salsa was gone from my life forever!

TIP: Opt for a salsa made without sugar to limit your daily intake of sugar. Village Hot Sauce is one of our family favs!

If you’re a fellow foodie, paleo eater, or just want to avoid GMO corn products, you have to order yourself a bag of Siete chips + try them for yourself. I promise you’ll love them. You may even finish off the whole bag in one sitting (something I'm totally guilty of!).

My favorite flavor is the classic Sea Salt, but they also have Lime and Nacho varieties too.
